Essay #2 Persuasive Writing

Helping the World
Become a Better Place

Paper, plastic, aluminum cans, bottles, water and fuel are some of the things you can reduce, reuse and recycle. When you reduce, reuse and recycle you save the environment by not wasting the raw materials. For example paper, it is made out of trees. When you are done using the front part of the paper, do not throw it just yet. Use the back part of the paper so that you do not waste it. It is important to reduce, reuse and recycle paper. I learned that to produce each week's Sunday newspaper, about 500,000  trees must be cut down. That is a lot of trees.  The more paper we recycle the more trees we save. Trees help prevent flood by absorbing the water. It also helps the environment by consuming carbon dioxide.  I have read that too much of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is bad. It can make the earth warmer and that's bad.
Recycle soda cans. I also learned that recycling one aluminum will save enough energy to run a t.v. for three hours or the equivalent of a half a gallon of gasoline. Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as burning it in a huge oven called the incinerator.
Water is also important. We use it for taking a bath, cooking, drinking, washing the clothes, for watering the plants or for the swimming pool. Without water we will  all die of dehydration. Let us conserve water. Turn the faucet off while brushing your teeth. When taking a bath, turn the shower off while you shampoo and put soap in your body. Only use the enough amount of water that you need.
Fuel or energy can light up bulbs, make an automobile run and power up your toys. You reduce the use of energy when you turn off the light after using the bathroom or any other room in your house. Turn off the t.v. and the computer when you are not using them. For cars, motor oil can also be recycled so we do not have to keep buying it from other countries.
When we reduce, reuse and recycle  there will be less garbage, less landfills and less pollution. Find in your area where you can bring the things that need to be recycled. By doing these, we are helping the world become a better place.
